Rydon go for Planet Upgrade

Rydon has recently upgraded their Core Software System from PlanetCMS to Planet FM Enterprise. The decision to invest in Planet FM Enterprise was made as a result of the long standing relationship the company have with the Planet division. They have been a customer since 2001 when they invested in the G5 system before moving on in 2003 to a bespoke PlanetCMS system specifically developed for the company by the Planet division.

Rydon commented “After viewing other systems on the market, the best route appeared to be to go with a product users were familiar with”. Rydon were also keen to invest in a system which would integrate with their other core systems, Opti-time and Cognito.

Rydon handles over 2000 jobs per week with approximately 100 operatives using handhelds to receive their work so it was very important that the transfer to the new system went smoothly with minimal disruption to the working day. The Planet team were able to get the new system working very quickly. As Rydon recall, “when the staff left the office on the Friday, CMS was in operation and on their return on the Monday morning Planet FM Enterprise was up and running with all the data migrated across successfully”.

Rydon are benefiting from many of the new features incorporated into Planet FM Enterprise. The Internet module is proving very useful as it allows clients to log and monitor calls. The Healthcare side of the business is also making use of handhelds for planned and reactive maintenance. Time and location are no longer a restriction as data is accessible at all times.

The upgrade to Planet FM Enterprise has been a valuable exercise, contributing to the smooth running of the company. Rydon commented, “we are always on the look out for improvements and upgrades that can be made to ensure that the 100,000 jobs that we complete annually do not become an administrative nightmare. IT solutions are key to ensuring that Rydon Maintenance stay at the forefront of their market sector”.
