Date: 20/10/2008

Accoya® BSW Timber's revolutionary modified wood, is to take centre stage at the W8 trade show at the NEC in Birmingham on 26 to 29 October 2008.

The environmentally friendly wood’s aesthetic and machining qualities will be demonstrated at the Weinig UK stand, manufacturers of state of the art woodworking machines.

Weinig UK will be demonstrating the new Conturex window line which offers increased flexibility for standard and bespoke window manufacturers looking to develop quality, cost effective window manufacture through investment in CNC machining.

John Alexander, Head of Business Development at BSW Timber, said: "We are very pleased that Weinig UK has provided the opportunity to run Accoya® in demonstration of their new window line. Accoya® profiles for sash windows will be run every day of the exhibition. Those not already familiar with Accoya® will see how well it machines.

"Feedback from our joinery customers using Accoya® has always been very positive and expectations of the product are exceeded in the workshop and right the way through to the customer."

Malcolm Cuthbertson from Weinig UK Ltd said: "We have chosen to use Accoya® at W8 because there are an increasing number of our customers using this high quality product which can be used in such a wide variety of exterior applications - from windows and doors to decking and cladding.

”We want to get the best possible machined finish from the wood we use and look forward to demonstrating our new Conturex Machine producing high quality window components featuring Accoya® at the show.”

Throughout the duration of the show, Weinig UK will process 40 Conturex windows from their demonstration stand, that’s nearly one every hour of the show!

Accoya® uses wood acetylation technology to deliver outstanding levels of performance, stability and durability. It also boasts excellent environmental credentials, using wood from sustainable plantations and being 100% non-toxic. The wood's appearance, natural colour and strength of the timber are not affected in the process.
