 The RHS-recognised garden, designed by award winning garden designer Lizzie Tulip, was created to provide a contemporary space to contrast with the traditional gardens exhibited within the grounds.
Long Rake Spar supplied Stillingfleet Lodge with Apricot, Candystone and Green Granite gravel, which was then mixed together to give a variation of colour throughout the garden. Commenting on the stone, garden designer Lizzie Tulip said, “I regularly use Long Rake Spar products in my designs as I love the colour and texture of the stones. In The Rill Garden the mix of the three coloured stones highlights the modern design and complements the structure of the diamond-cut sandstone.”
Inspiration for the concept of the Rill garden came from the owner of Stillingfleet Lodge, Vanessa Cook, who wanted a structural, minimalist space that provided a peaceful retreat for visitors. Vanessa said, “The Rill garden provides a peaceful garden where visitors can come to sit and relax. The mix of stones used look fantastic together, they work so well and make the garden come to life.”
