Croft helps put British manufacturing on the map

Croft Engineering Services is being backed by MP for Warrington North Helen Jones to help put British manufacturing on the map.

Helen visited the Crofts site at Risley in Warrington on Friday as part of Made By Britain, a national drive to spotlight the best of the nation’s design, production and innovation.

She was given a tour of the headquarters and spoke to its skilled engineers to find out more about the company, which has been producing bespoke filters for 25 years.

Croft partner Neil Burns;

“It has been a pleasure to welcome Helen Jones to Croft and show her that British manufacturing is alive and well and bursting with innovation.”

The Made By Britain scheme − echoing the Great Exhibition of 1851 which celebrated Victorian Britain’s industrial triumphs − will display innovations and successes online.

Launched earlier this year, it asks all 650 MPS to nominate one manufacturing company from their constituency to help form a virtual map of manufacturing in Britain today.

With Helen’s support, Croft is being showcased through a ‘virtual Crystal Palace’ that has been created to boost pride and support for Britain’s manufacturing industry.

Helen said:

“I was proud to nominate Croft Engineering Services for inclusion on the Made By Britain Map to recognise their innovation and commitment to providing career opportunities in the Warrington area.

“It’s essential that we speak up for British manufacturing to show that companies like Croft are at the forefront of their field. Manufacturing is a crucial part of the UK economy and I want to see more done by the Government to support businesses who want to grow.”

Neil added:

“We are extremely proud of the quality products we produce and the level of customer service we offer worldwide. Many people believe Britain as a nation doesn’t make anything any more. We want to show the wheels of British manufacturing are very much still turning.”

Through the online map, Croft is showcasing the skills and experience that has taken the original idea of finding a retail use for wire mesh and turned it into a company supplying filters to a diverse range of industries worldwide.

The company, which employs 22 people, produces filters from woven wire mesh and perforated plate for industries from rail engineering and aerospace to power generation and Formula One.
