Created in 1994 Specialised Sports Products Ltd (SSP) has developed into a thriving, energetic and innovative company providing outdoor surfacing solutions for children’s play, safety, sport, learning and leisure. The company also offers a synthetic surface maintenance service for full sized sports pitches, tennis courts, and play areas and playgrounds.

Traditional surfaces such as wet pour rubber, as well as artificial grass (often known as Astroturf), and the ProPlay artificial grass safety surface system have been supplied and installed by the company to many clients such as schools, pre-schools, nurseries, hospitals, councils and visitor centres.  SSP has recently introduced its innovative MEGA range (Multi Education Games Areas) which helps schools to provide an interactive surface for sport, teaching and play, replacing the traditional school playground and sports field. We also provide artificial lawns for domestic customers either supply and install or supply only, as well as artificial turf for exhibitions and displays, and commercial applications such road side verges and roundabouts.

All SSP Safety Surface Systems have been tested to the requirements of BS7188:1989 Methods of test for impact absorbing playground surfaces, and in accordance with European Standard NEN EN 1177 (1997) and BS EN 1177(1998). All SSP systems meet the minimum standards required under BS 5696: Part 3 1979 Play equipment intended for permanent installation outdoors. Code of practice for installation and maintenance, and in accordance with BS EN 1176-7:1007.

SSP’s Synthetic Surface Cleaning and Maintenance services encompasses modern processes such as complete rejuvenations, renovations and regular cleaning and infill decompaction for schools, councils, sports clubs and private individuals.  An obligation free survey is offered.
