Never Too Late To Reduce Wrinkles - New Report Endorses Environ Vitamin Approach

11 June 2008

There’s still hope for those of us who think that our increasing age and already sun-damaged skin mean wrinkling and sagging skin is inevitable, says a report in the May issue of Archives of Dermatology.

According to scientists at the University of Michigan, who have analysed numerous studies appearing since the early 1990s, vitamin A is a treatment that really can assist in collagen repair, thereby reducing the fine lines, wrinkles and sagging skin we have come to expect as we age.

Researchers John J. Voorhees, M.D., F.R.C.P. and Gary J. Fisher, Ph.D. noted that breakdown of the skin’s structures, which usually starts in our late twenties, could be counteracted when healthy, new collagen growth was stimulated by application of topical vitamin A.

The lead dermatology researcher, Vorhees, said that it was important that the growing evidence for effective anti-ageing treatments is used to educate people and to help them make informed choices amid the hype surrounding the anti-ageing products industry.

Tracy Tamaris, UK and Ireland training director for vitamin skincare specialist Environ, says the news reinforces the place for effective levels of vitamin A in everyday skincare.

“Vitamin A is definitively the most important anti-ageing ingredient and as a natural component of healthy tissue development it will never be superseded by other ingredients,” she explains.

“It is essential to protect damage to DNA, the material which influences how our cells behave and ensures they are healthy and function better.  We know that by topping up levels of vitamin A that are lost daily, the skin takes on a healthier appearance, is firmer, smoother and more radiant.  There are more natural moisturising factors in the skin which plump it out and healthier collagen is produced in greater quantities, which reduces the depth of lines.  The skin colour becomes more even, and tends to be lighter too.

“Fantastic, clinically proven results are achieved by using the gentle but very effective forms of vitamin A that are only found at the highest levels in such products as Environ’s.”

Environ Skin Care founder, plastic surgeon Dr Des Fernandes was a pioneer in the development of consumer-friendly vitamin A and antioxidant based skincare products as early as the late 1980s.  Environ offers vitamin A products in skin-friendly forms at the highest level available in any cosmetic formulations, via professional skincare therapists in salons and clinics nationwide.

Environ Skin Care offers some of the most advanced vitamin A based ranges available in the market, suitable for use on everyone from children through to individuals with mature or heavily sun-aged skin.  Almost uniquely in the skincare world, Environ products provide results through a gradual step-up in strength approach that allows users to nourish skin with vitamin A, without experiencing the side effects associated with medically prescribed vitamin A formulations.  As the skin receives more vitamin A it forms more cell receptors for the nutrient, which in turn increase the benefits gained.
