ATC Semitecs' PTC Thermistors for circuit protection

ATC Semitecs' new range of ceramic PTCs is a perfect compliment to their existing range of Semifuse polymer PTCs.
By offering voltage ratings up to 600VAC and current trip points of just several mA, they cover the extremes of circuit protection unmatched by polymer PTCs.
As well as current overload applications, (i.e. PTC fuses); formulating ceramic PTCs gives a series of specific trip temperatures. Being very small, they are easy to incorporate in the windings of electric motors to provide in-situ thermal overload protection. PTC thermistors are also available in simple housings to help monitor bearing housings and power components that are under thermal stress.
Ceramic PTCs can also be used as self-limiting heating elements and are available in rectangular or circular forms. By varying the PTCs' chemistry, a range of voltage and Curie points is achievable to give the required heat output under a variety of specific application conditions.
