David Bailey sentenced to Prison furniture refurbishment

04 November 2009

David Bailey Furniture Systems was recently contracted to supply and install furniture to the value of over £37,000 at HM Prison Cardiff.

The prison furniture refurbishment was for the interior of a new state-of-the-art health care centre within the secure facility, which was part of a £5.4million construction works by contractor Galliford Try Construction Ltd.

When it came to choosing the furniture for the centre, the decision lay with Galliford Try, who did not choose furniture manufacturers and fitters from the custodial industry, but selected David Baileys' Healthline range for the prison furniture project. Modernisation of the secure facility included the in-patient treatment area, gum area, administration offices, education area and consulting rooms.

David Bailey used a variety of items from its Healthline range for the prison furniture installation, including shelving, drugs cupboards, base and wall storage units with oak-coloured wood effect doors, varigated green worktops and green and chrome-plated large D handles.

Graham Barrett, Sales & Marketing Manager for David Bailey, said;

“Thanks to our reputation in providing quality craftsmanship and competitive pricing, we are making a name for ourselves as prison furniture suppliers. HMP Cardiff was our most recent contract from the prison industry, having previously completed contracts at HMP Maidstone, HMP Swaleside, HMP Elmley and HMP Rochester, HMP Belmarsh, HMP Ranby and HMP Forest Bank.”

Galliford Try, along with architects Stanley Peach and Partners, carried out the design and build of the health care centre, which will provide 24-hour healthcare to HM Prison Cardiff and surrounding prisons.
