Painless access for Pinner patients

25 February 2010

The entrance to the new NHS Pinn Medical Centre in Harrow comprises of two sets of bi-parting sliding doors powered by advanced TORMAX iMotion™ technology.

The result of a dedicated research and development programme, iMotion™ technology is one of the most sophisticated door automation solutions available in the marketplace today, delivering systems that both optimises operational performance whilst maximising energy efficiency.

Purpose built, the Pinn Medical Centre incorporates a large team of doctors, nurses and support staff, as well as visiting specialists, who all work together to provide the best possible individual care. Extremely busy, the Centre is open seven days a week and the TORMAX™ automatic sliding doors are in near-constant use.

Ensuring absolute reliability the iMotion 2301™ operators incorporate deliberately high torque synchronous motors which do not have any parts that can wear out and are gear-less and brush-less, delivering near-indefinite life-expectancy. iMotion technology is almost entirely manufactured using recyclable materials, making it the sustainable option too.

Fully compliant with current DDA requirements, the TORMAX™ automatic entrance encourages patient flow into and out of the Centre, reducing bottlenecks and making access straightforward for the less-able and those encumbered by pushchairs. Further helping ensure patient and staff comfort, the two sets of sliding doors work in conjunction to minimise the heat lost from Reception whilst also contributing positively towards lower energy bills.

Patient well-being is of the highest priority at the Pinn Medical Centre and visitors can be reassured that TORMAX iMotion™ sliding doors incorporate a range of integrated safety devices including ground-breaking sensor technology that guarantees split-second object recognition.

Design to operate continuously with minimum maintenance, iMotion™ operators feature a range of internal self-monitoring functions which not only check the sensors every single cycle but also automatically adapt door operation to take account of external factors such as high winds or a build-up of dirt, which may otherwise impede smooth operation. With a view to future potential expansion at the Pinn Medical Centre, iMotion™ operators are entirely modular, allowing components to be easily adapted as requirements change.
