Medical furniture manufacturer refurbishes new dental college

23 July 2010

David Bailey Furniture Systems has provided medical furniture at a value of £32,000 for a new block at the first dental college to be built in the UK for over 40 years.

The Peninsula Dental College, Truro, Cornwall along with two other dental colleges, fills the gap in the NHS dental healthcare provision for the county.

David Bailey’s team of fitters installed the Healthline range at the Truro site in two phases. The clinical rooms were furnished first, with the offices being furnished in the second phase commencing in October 2009 for contractors Interserve Project Services.

Products supplied by the medical furniture manufacturer, David Bailey, included HTM 63 suspended units with HTM 63 bullnosed fully moulded worktops. Half of the worktops specified were from the medical manufacturer’s existing Healthline range, and the other half were bespoke stainless steel designed by the Architect for the dental college.

A variety of colour schemes were selected for the installation including white doors with grey worktops, grey doors with speckled beige worktops and grey doors with yellow worktops.

The HTM 63 range of fitted medical furniture was originally designed by the Department of Health and therefore offers suspended storage units specifically suited to the requirements of all types of healthcare establishments including hospitals, care homes, doctors’ surgeries and medical colleges.

As the new block was built on the Treliske Hospital campus and adjoined the Knowledge Spa Medical School it was not part of the main building. This made it easy for the installation team to access the building without too much disruption.

HRH Highness of Gloucester officially opened the Peninsula Dental College in Truro in March 2010. The college includes 32 dental chairs for training, office space and four single surgeries.

David Bailey has previously supplied medical furniture for the Peninsula Dental College in Plymouth, Devonport at a value of over £35,000 during 2008/2009.
