sculpture proves‘NEIGH’ small job for local firm.

A local company has offered a helping hand to a prestigious artist
which has resulted in the creation of a life-size welded steel sculpture in the form of a dramatic rearing horse. Eastleigh-based Wessex Galvanizers provided its expertise in the form of its specialist galvanizing service to local artist Amy Goodman, who had been commissioned to produce the 12 foot creation by a Cambridgeshire-based client.
Sculptor and artist Amy, from Quarley, commented: “My client had sadly recently lost her beloved horse Max, and to keep his memory alive, asked me to immortalise him in steel – a project which was both a delight and a challenge to undertake.
“Due to the sculpture’s sheer size and posture, the project posed a number of technical difficulties, but Wessex Galvanizers worked really hard to make sure that the finishing elements were done both efficiently and considerately.”
Following the design and production of the steel sculpture, the final piece underwent the galvanizing process, which involved it being dipped in molten zinc at a temperature of 450°C.
Richard Whiddett, Sales Manager at Wessex Galvanizers, commented: “We have worked with Amy on a number of varied projects now and were delighted to be involved in this specific one, not only because of the impressiveness of the piece, but because of its significance to the end client. Due of its unique anti-corrosive properties, galvanizing was the ideal coating for this particular sculpture, and will mean that it will be protected from the outside elements for many, many years to come.”
