The Framo Morat ‘Compacta’ slip-on geared motor is well named as it is ideal for applications where space is at a premium and they are designed for repeatable positioning and reversing tasks. Models in the range are up to 10 kg lighter than nearest competitors with the same output torque and speed. The ‘Compacta’ also provides 22 output speed options by comparison with the maximum of three available on alternatives and its motor choices offer a wide range of power and duty cycles.
The design’s integral and easily adjustable mechanical limit switch contributes to the product’s exceptional flexibility with a speed range 0.9 to 193 rpm and output torques from 6 to 600 Nm. The range can also be equipped with ESA electronic limit switches with up to 10 set points and 2 end positions. These are easy to programme, provide an absolute encoder signal and therefore ensure precise positioning and repeatability.
The modular design of ‘Compacta’ allows easy customisation from standard parts. Its additional integrated features include choices such as brake, slip clutch, potentiometer, hand crank, encoder etc. This design flexibility differentiates the ‘Compacta’ from other models and greatly extends its scope of application from heavy duty material handling to semi-conductor production equipment in clean room conditions. As each ‘Compacta’ can be optimised for its specific task it is easy to install and there is generally no need for additional drive components.
The smaller dimensions and the low weight of ‘Compacta’ are achieved by the use of a spur and worm gear transmission combined with performance-optimised motors; the transmission is also exceptionally quiet. Framo is a market leader in the production of worm gears and its products and systems are the preferred choice of many OEMs in the printing and textile machinery sector.
Four standard models complete the ‘Compacta’ range offering torques up to 600 Nm. Higher torques, IP65 rating and explosion-proof ATEX 95 are also available. The ‘Compacta’ series is designed for reliable operation under extreme heat, dust and moisture and models in the range are already in use in wider Europe in applications such as sheet metal forming, materials handling, food processing and electronics production.
