Root Ball Hedging

Root ball hedging plants are field-grown plants that have been left to develop for several years, to make sure they establish good height and foliage structure, as well as a sturdy root system. Many of the plants are evergreen, meaning they provide immediate impact when re-planted in your garden.

Root ball hedging plants are grown naturally in a field, and then when they're ready for delivery, they are scooped out of the earth by a machine that cuts a ball of soil around the root system, which is then wrapped in a bio-degradable covering. Root ball hedging is a cost-effective option, as it takes less cultivation than pot-grown plants. Size for size, it tends to work out at a lower cost compared to its pot-grown equivalents, so root ball hedging is perfect for those looking for a more developed, full hedge on a budget.

The root ball hedging season runs from November to late spring, when most plants are dormant, although this depends on the weather, as good weather can end the root ball season earlier than expected.
