On-Site Training

E & J group undertake many aspects of fire marshal and fire awareness training , these courses vary from smaller training sessions undertaken at our clients premises to larger classes within a pre booked conference centre.

To comply with (the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005) all employers must arrange for employees to have a minimum of training according to the findings of their fire risk assessment and in accordance with the EMERGENCY PLAN.

E&J Fire Group undertake many aspects of fire safety training. These courses vary from the smaller training sessions undertaken at the clients premises, to the larger classes held within a pre-booked conference hall. The training is undertaken by our friendly advisor who has all the relevant training and more importantly “experience” within the fire trade.

After completing the training all attendees will be sent a certificate of attendance.

In 2012 the company developed several new fire awareness  and fire marshal  courses designed to cater for individual premises. The training courses are a power point presentation tailored to your own business and its fire risk assessment findings, its staff, building and procedures. Each course includes the following:

Fire Awareness Training (All Staff)

  • Understand the character of fire, smoke and toxic fumes.
  • Know the fire hazards involved in the workplace.
  • Practice and promote fire prevention.
  • Know the right actions if fire breaks out.
  • Know the evacuation procedure and escape routes in your work place.
  • How to raise the alarm and call the fire brigade.
  • How to contain and delay the spread of fire.
  • How to tackle the fire safely (correct use of extinguishers).
  • Current Legislation.
  • Hands on use of extinguishers (on request only)
  • Fire Drill Evaluation Test (on request only)

Fire Marshal Training (Nominated Staff)

  • Overview of fire safety law and obligations for employers.
  • Behaviour in the event of a fire.
  • Explanation of proactive role required by the fire wardens.
  • Examination of the reactive role played by the warden (the evacuation process).
  • Film footage of fires and evacuation techniques.
  • Demonstration of extinguishers.
  • Discussing the latest legislation.
  • Hands on use of extinguishers (on request only)
  • Fire Drill Evaluation Test (on request only)

Employers Statutory Duties

The responsible person must ensure that his employees are provided with adequate safety training –

(a) at the time when they are first employed; and
(b) on their being exposed to new or increased risks because of –

(i) their being transferred or given a change of responsibilities within the responsible person’s undertaking;
(ii) the introduction of new work equipment into, or a change respecting work equipment already in use within, the responsible person’s undertaking;
(iii) the introduction of new technology into the responsible person’s undertaking; or
(iv) the introduction of a new system of work into, or a change respecting a system of work already in use within, the responsible person’s undertaking.

The training referred to in paragraph (1) must –

(a) include suitable and sufficient instruction and training on the appropriate precautions and actions to be taken by the employee in order to safeguard himself and other relevant persons on the premises;
(b) be repeated periodically where appropriate;
(c) be adapted to take account of any new or changed risks to the safety of the employees concerned;
(d) be provided in a manner appropriate to the risk identified by the risk assessment; and
(e) take place during working hours.
