Key Clamp Components
Where it all started, a wide range of malleable cast iron clamps (hot dip galvanised) with one thing in common, they are easily secured with a simple hex or “Allen” key. Originally designed over 70 years ago as a modular handrail system to replace the laborious threaded systems whilst being a much cheaper alternative to welding, the Alvin Key Clamp brand is known for our high quality, durable products. Available across 5 different tube sizes these fittings form the foundation of our product ranges. Our range has expanded over the decades to go beyond traditional handrail products, meaning bespoke systems can be designed, delivered & assembled yourself, without any specialist training, within a couple of days. From handrail to shop fit-outs, edge protection to industrial furniture the strength and versatility of Alvin Key Clamps makes them the perfect solution for countless problems.
Handrail Systems
Our Quick Handrail Kits are designed to make specifying a basic handrail as easy as possible. Available in Size 7 and Size 8 these kits come part assembled with pre-cut horizontal tubes and clamps already attached to the uprights. All you need to do is rotate the base plate to the desired position and fix to the floor. Ideal in areas where you need a simple handrail or guardrail and can be compliant to relevant standards, notably BS 6180.
DDA Handrail
The Alvin DDA Range is a modified version of our size 7 key clamp range, designed with DDA and Part M compliance in mind. This system provides a smooth top of the handrail by using innovative expansive or saddle clamps which support the tube on the underside, leaving the top of the tube free of obstruction. This makes the handrail easy to grip for even the most vulnerable or frail members of society.
Pedestrian Guardrail
Alvin Pedestrian Guardrails are designed to provide a quick and convenient pre-fabricated infill to pass the 100mm sphere test. Standard sizes available are 1m or 1.5m depending on how much load you need the system to resist, and pre-configured uprights are available to easily assemble straight runs or corners.
Freestanding Edge Protection
The Alvin Freestand range is designed to provide fast, economical and above all safe collective fall protection without any penetrations of the roof membrane. Particularly useful for retrofitting to older buildings this product is available designed to BS13700:2021 for permanent installation or EN 13374:2013 (class A) for temporary usage. The most recent evolution of this product line, Freestand Compact uses an integral counterweight and baseplate for use where space is limited such as with Solar Panel installations.
Stepovers
Alvin Stepovers are a revolutionary new product range to compliment our other roof-safety products. These systems are designed to provide safe access routes where paths are blocked by plant and are available to safely fit over anything from small cable runs to large air handling ducts. These units are equally useful around the factory to provide access over conveyors or parts of machinery. The system is available both as a bolt-down option or as a freestanding counterweighted unit requiring no roof penetration whatsoever.
DDA Ramps
Alvin DDA ramps are another evolution of our product offering aimed at buildings where you may need to add a ramp to comply with the DDA. The major benefit of these systems is that they require only a few bolts to secure them to the floor, so installation does not require significant earthworks. This means that ramps can be installed in days not weeks, and crucially they are easily removed should the building usage change, particularly useful around listed properties.
Skylight Protection
Alvin Skylight Covers are a cost effective way to protect people working on your roof from stepping on or falling through skylights on trapezoidal and standing seam roofs. Designed and tested to take the force of a person tripping and falling onto the cover, these units can effectively eliminate the most common cause of fatality from a fall from a roof.
Self Closing Gates
Alvin Self Closing Gates are a convenient, compliant, addition to many of our product lines. Often used with our freestanding edge protection they can protect users from falling through a roof access hatch or ladder, the gate opens inwards into the safe working area meaning only direct action allows a user through to the access point.
Warehouse Barriers
Our specially designed range of internal warehouse barriers are specifically designed to provide demarcation and impact protection on internal roadways as well as protecting pallet racking and other vulnerable structures from impact with the warehouse shield range or leg protection.
Pallet Gates
A gate big enough to accept large pallets that also keeps the user protected from unguarded edges thought the process of loading. Available in a range of sizes to accommodate standard Europallets or large/tall goods these gates use an innovative hinge design that allows them to function as a guardrail and gate at the same time. As you would expect they are built from standard Alvin Key Clamp fittings which means they are easy to repair and maintain as well as being compatible with direct connection to existing Alvin Key Clamp guardrails. The gates are supplied part-assembled for ease of installation on site.
Garment Rails
This range is an excellent example of the versatility of the ordinary key clamp. Our size 5 and size 6 use tubes that a standard coat hanger will fit over, meaning you can use them for both mobile and fixed garment rails and shop displays.
