Restoring Natural Habitats: Plantscape’s Tree Planting and Maintenance for Equinor Offshore Windfarm Cable Routes

Plantscape Tree Services Ltd is supporting Equinor’s Dudgeon windfarm by replanting native hedge and tree whips along onshore cable routes where hedgerows were removed. The team selected local species and will provide five years of maintenance to ensure healthy establishment. This project reflects Plantscape’s commitment to sustainability, biodiversity, and habitat restoration.

Plantscape Tree Services Ltd is proud to support Equinor’s commitment to environmental stewardship by helping restore natural habitats impacted during the construction of onshore cable routes for the Dudgeon offshore windfarm.

During the cable installation, existing hedgerows had to be removed to facilitate construction. To compensate for this loss and ensure ecological balance, Plantscape was tasked with planting native hedge and tree whips to replace the removed hedgerows. This crucial replanting work helps restore natural screening, improve biodiversity, and maintain the local landscape’s integrity.

Our team carefully selected species suited to the local environment and employed expert planting techniques to maximise survival rates. Beyond planting, Plantscape provides 5 years ongoing maintenance throughout the year, including growth monitoring, weed control, and protection from environmental stressors, ensuring the whips establish successfully and flourish.

This project exemplifies Plantscape’s commitment to combining arboricultural expertise with sustainable practices to support renewable energy infrastructure while promoting environmental restoration and BNG. We are proud to play a role in enhancing the ecological value of Equinor’s offshore windfarm cable route and contributing to a greener future.
