About us

Coinage is now in its 40th year of business. The company was founded by John Hailes who, as a young engineer, identified a need for vending machines in washing laundrettes – a simple, wall mounted machine that dispensed packets of washing powder, enough for a machine cycle. The Soap Shop concept was an instant hit and there were soon few laundrettes in the UK without one of his dispensers. The rest, as they say, is history. We are deeply proud of our roots and the foundations on which we continue to develop our reputation for supplying trusted and highly reliable products.
