Founded in 1948, Smye-Rumsby was formed to supply a range of two way radio communication products to customers throughout the UK. We pride ourselves on our 60 years experience in the two way radio industry which allows us to supply, hire and repair many types of radios including all major brands such as Motorola, Icom, Kenwood, Vertex and Entel. Whatever your communication requirements, Smye Rumsby can provide solutions to all your two way radio requirements with a team of dedicated and qualified staff.

Situated in Dover, Smye Rumsby are constantly seeking ways to evolve its services to meet the ever increasing and developing world of electronics and communication. We know that maintaining customer loyalty is a must so we are continually aiming to give complete satisfaction to our customers. Smye Rumsby is accredited to Quality Management System ISO 9001-2008.

Smye Rumsby not only supplies a range of radio equipment, our service team also provide a full 24 hour repair maintenance service to customer who demand this level of response. In addition, we have provided procurement and maintenance services to users of marine navigational equipment including shore based radar and radio communications.

Our expertise has expanded to all forms of land based mobile and fixed station radio products which includes the design and planning of customised radio communication systems.

A division of our company operates a communications service, comprising of a number of county wide repeater networks which are utilised by many businesses and organisations for their operations on a daily basis.

To compliment our radio equipment range, Smye Rumsby also has a very large hire department, which covers CCTV, public address systems and surveillance equipment.  

Smye Rumsby has, in conjunction with Councils, Police and retailers, set up many CCTV security systems, reducing crime in many towns.

Every boat needs good electrical / electronic engineer.I came across Smye Rumsby in 2018 and they were so good that they became the major factor for choosing place for winterising my boat.This winter we had several items ready for upgrade: Wind Generator, Auto Pilot, Echo Sounder and plethora of small electrical jobs.Smye Rumsby team delivered on time and ...with a smile. You feel that you are being looked after.Our boat sails around Europe and it is extremely important for me to have "after sale support" - Philip and his engineers do just that. Wherever in the world I can make a phone call and get advice, support , assistance. One example: my VHF radio "packed up" while racing in RB&I race. Smye Rumsby sourced best for my boat, getting very good price and dispatched it to the marina ahead of my arrival to Ireland.This is what I call SERVICE.

The range and clarity of the radios are excellent, which is crucial: if people don’t think the message will reach the intended recipient then they won’t be used. The fact that all staff are using the radios on a regular basis demonstrates the effectiveness of the system. So far, we have found the radios to be more reliable than mobile phones in many instances. The ability to switch from the main network to a radio-to-radio channel adds a reliable back-up option for teams to stay in contact with each other, even if they are in a signal ‘black spot.’ Smye-Rumsby have provided an excellent service throughout the process, in particular, allowing us to demo the radios over a couple of weeks to test their effectiveness and range across the whole farm
