Our Badge Manufacturing process is made up of 9 steps…

1. Artwork- This is one of the most crucial steps of the manufacturing process. As soon as the pre-production visual is completed it is handed over to one of our skilled die makers.

2. Die Making- Our highly skilled die maker will carefully hand engrave your design into a solid piece of steel or by using a pantograph. Occasionally, a cnc machine will be used to cut the die. The final part of this step involves hardening the dies ready for stamping.

3. Die Stamping- For the design and first impression, your die is loaded onto our hydraulic presses where up to 250 tonnes of pressure stamps your chosen metal before it is cut to shape.

4. Piercing- For precise cutting of your desired shape we often use our mechanical cutting machines. For more complex jobs our skilled craftsman will cut them by hand using a fine saw. The badge is now stamped and the next stage is to add the fitting.

5. Soldering- We attach the fitting you chose onto the badge using a variety of soldering techniques. Our most popular fittings are the butterfly clasp and safety brooch.

6. Polishing- To rid of any burns or oils on the surface we clean and polish the badges using a number of techniques. Depending on the required finish we will either polish the badges in our barrels in bulk or individually.

7. Plating- Now the badge is clean we use a process called electroplating for a shiny appearance. A deposited layer of gold, silver or a colour of your choice is added to the metal. Colours are now ready to be added.

8. Enamelling- During this step you will see your badge come to life. A variety of techniques are done by hand to produce your logo.

9. Inspection- Lastly, we will thoroughly inspect your badge to ensure it passes our quality expectations. If passed they will be packaged and delivered to you via one of our couriers.
