Weiss Gallenkamp supply most sophisticated Temperature and Vibration Chamber.

06 May 2008

Weiss Gallenkamp have provided Chemring with the most sophisticated Temperature and Vibration Chamber in the UK.

Chemring is the world's leading producer of expendable decoy countermeasures for protecting air, sea and land platforms against guided missile threats. Products include flares, chaff, special materials and naval decoys. The chamber is used for testing flares and pyrotechnics, which may ignite at elevated temperatures so all cabinets are isolated in different 'bunkers'.

The whole chamber is electrically driven to rise up clear of the vibration table, to enable operators to have 360° clear access to the load. The chamber runs on rails set into the floor, so that it can slide sideways, to enable the operation of a slip table, and it can also operate with a vertical vibrator. It has a water cooled compressor with an external water chiller with flexible pipework to allow the chamber to move sideways.

Temperature changes of between -70°C and +180°C at the rate of 6°C p/min are possible, whilst at the same time the chamber is able to tolerate a test load dissipating 5000 watts from -20°C to +20°C The chamber has internal dimensions of 1100mm (w) x 1400mm (d) x 1400mm (h) and can be adapted to operate a variety of vibration systems if required. Chemring also have an SC1000 Salt Spray Cabinet supplied by Weiss Gallenkamp, as well as an Explosion-proof Oven, a Votsch FTW70/125-120C.
