Healthline furniture fits out new Oncology unit

02 June 2008

Following a successful tender at Kingston Hospital, David Bailey Furniture Systems has been awarded a £45,000 contract to supply and install furniture from its Healthline range for the hospital’s new Oncology building.

The fitted furniture includes base and wall units, worktops, shelving, storage systems, counter tops and reception desks, as well as other specialist equipment.

All base and wall carcasses are constructed from 18mm thick, rigid-dowelled MFC (melamine-faced chipboard) to guarantee sturdy and long lasting units, with all exposed edges coated in melamine, for a smooth, hygienic and easy clean finish.

This construction project at Kingston Hospital is the result of a partnership with The Royal Marsden Hospital and Macmillan Cancer Support; the completion of the Oncology building will culminate with the opening of the new Sir William Rous Unit.  This new cancer unit will provide chemotherapy treatment for outpatients, diagnostic clinics, and access to support services.

Adam Stones, Quantity Surveyor for Morgan Ashurst, the main contractors for this project, commented: “We have been pleased with the range of fitted furniture David Bailey Furniture Systems has supplied for this job and would certainly work with them again in the future.”
