Ultra Tile: on the menu at Pret

Ultra Tile products have been used to transform a number of Pret A Manger shops nationwide.
Home made natural food retailer, Pret A Manger opened their first shop in 1986 and have grown significantly since. Today the company has 240 UK shops with many more new openings planned for 2013.Last year 20 of their shops were refurbished and The Great Northern Tiling Company completed all the tiling installations. Each refurbishment included 2 tiling projects – the toilets and shop area walls. The modern and stylish metro shaped tiles in ceramic were used in the toilets, and the unusual and unique brick slips were fixed to the shop area’s walls.
Brick slips require a specialist application and therefore test areas were carried out initially and Ultra Tile ProFlex SP was selected following its pleasing bond results. The adhesive’s performance is rapid setting for faster completion, and it accommodates movement due to the product’s S1 classification. ProFlex SP is ideal for use with low-absorbency tiles and has exceptional water resistance, making it suitable for use in wet areas and swimming pools.
ProFlex SP is one of Ultra Tile’s leading cementitious adhesives and due to its popularity and for job suitability, 5kg, 10kg and 20kg bag sizes are all available. The product has a pot life of 40 minutes and can be laid at bed thickness from 3-20mm.
Consideration was given to the preparation of the floors and walls and Ultra Tile Prime IT FP was used to stabilise the background substrates and reduce their porosity. This primer is available in 2.5ltr bottles.
To provide the perfect finish, Ultra Tile FlexJoint grout was selected. FlexJoint has been specifically formulated and polymer modified for tiles with joint widths of up to 20mm, and for most tile types and applications. It has excellent joint filling properties and a super fine texture, allowing for joints to be filled in one simple application making it an ideal choice for fixers, and providing a smooth, non-coarse finish.
Lastly, The Great Northern Tiling Company completed the job with stainless steel corner trims purchased from Trimtraders Ltd.
The refurbished shops now sell good natural food in the surroundings of good stylish tiling.
