Ecotron relasesa new approach to cost-effective incubator shakers for the laboratory

The Ecotron is a new design of incubator shaker which provides the fundamental requirements of a small incubator shaker in an innovative and cost-effective package. The novel Penta-drive system is protected from spillages. All electrical components are on a single frame mounted at the top of the unit for security and easy access. The front-opening door allows good access to the shaking platform in the incubation chamber, even when the unit is placed under a laboratory bench. The Ecotron can be supplied with or without cooling, according to your application.

X-Controller  for re-vamp and new applications

A compact, flexible solution for re-vamping of existing bioreactors by adding new electronics and a way to add process control instrumentation for special projects involving  vessels and reactor designs made for a special purpose. The X-Controller has all the functionality of comprehensive bioreactor electronics and includes amplifiers key sensors and four removable, autoclavable peristaltic pumps.  Up to four units can be controlled by a single, removable operating panel and IRIS supervisory control software is easily connected. An optional stirrer motor with integral controller can be supplied along with a heater pad and cooling valve for a cost effective, complete solution.

Multifors for flexible, multiple parallel fermentation in small volumes

The innovative and successful multi-fermenter concept developed by Infors, the Sixfors, has a worthy successor in Multifors. This provides the same small volumes, comprehensive instumentation for each individual position, compact design and ease of use of the Sixfors combined with new innovations. The units now can be grouped together in two's, with a single control panel able to look after 4 fermenters simultaneously with completely independent operation.   Removable, autoclavable pump heads, an integrated analogue feed pump as standard, re-locatable operating panel, X-DDC electronics and a new vessel size of 1L total volume all add to the flexibility and capability of the Multifors. Peristaltic pump handling has been made especially easy with pumps grouped by type eg all acid or all base, which can be primed and emptied together using an “ALL” option.  The system is ideal for providing rapid, statistically valid results for applications such as the excursion testing required by the FDA’s PAT initiative (Process Analytics Technology).

Terrafors for bioremediation, bio-agriculture and biodegradion studies using solids, semi-solid and liquid substrate.

The Terrafors has been developed over a number of years by Infors and MADEP,  who are world-renown experts in this field. It provides a compact, instrumented rotary chamber with easy loading and efficient mixing of up to 3-4Kg of solid substrate.  Designed for bench-scale operations, it can accept compost material or contaminated soils for investigation of bio-remediation.  Results from this scale can then be transferred to larger-scale projects.  The major components surrounding the mixing chamber are standard components of the Labfors range of bench-scale bioreactors, making both the addition of other analytical instruments via the X-DDC control system and use of IRIS supervisory software a very simple task. Terrafors has been awarded a prestigious Swiss Technology Award and already has a firm bases of applications and methodologies available.

Touchfors – a professional, industrial-strength process controller.

Touchfors is the latest control instrumentation from Infors and provides a full-feautred, validatable and comprehensive control package for the INFORS range of in-situ sterilizable bioreactors. Based on embedded XP, the Touchfors system is both reliable and flexible. Interaction with the user is via a colour touch screen which provides alpha-numeric keypads as required. Options are arranged in tabs so individual screens are not crowded but a main synoptic screen and an on-line graph provides for comprehensive overviews of the whole process. User interactions with the system are logged in a single file for validation and regulatory purposes. Communication with the IRIS software form INFORS (and other applications) is via the industry-standard OPC protocol over ethernet. Crucially, additional sensors and peripherals can be added to Touchfors without the need for expensive re-programming.

New Green Sticky Stuff – the best just got better for clamp-free use of Erlenmeyer flasks.

The name INFORS has been synonymous with Green Sticky Stuff for the last 20 years. An enhanced green sticky is now available which continues this link between innovative shakers and easy handling of flasks by the use of adhesive matting. This marked a revolution in the way Erlenmeyer flasks could be safely retained on shaker trays.  No need for specific clamp sizes and a better use of the surface area of a shaker tray. The  longevity of the adhesive matting and its ability to regenerate makes it a good choice for many users.

The latest green sticky has all these vital features, plus:

a)    Optimum  performance over a wider range of temperatures
b)    Easy exchange and replacement
c)    A format with squares of material which can be laid out over our standard trays
d)    The ability to stick to universal trays with threaded holes, making it possible to easily adapt an existing tray to new applications eg mixed flasks and tube racks.

Our sticky stuff is for the exclusive benefit of users of INFORS shakers and incubator shakers with standard packs to provide enough material to cover our most commonly used tray sizes.
