Wall to Wall on Safer Sutton Committee

30 July 2013

When radio communications specialist Wall to Wall Communications were approached to sit on the Safer Sutton Committee, Managing Director Sam Cohen accepted the challenge.

When the Sutton Bid put together their philosophy for the cultural future of Sutton, Open Cinema screening was top of the list for entertainment.

During the bid process Wall to Wall Radio Communications were approached to be on the board of the Safer Sutton Committee. Managing Director, Sam Cohen accepted the challenge and attended various meetings to discuss the security required from a communications aspect, to enable the borough to ensure everyday safety. Moving forward with the events planned throughout the year, the aim is to make Sutton a safer and better environment, to attract families from within the Borough and appeal to those from further afield.

So just a few days ago, film lovers braved the elements to enjoy the first outdoor high street movie screening. Sutton High Street hosted Sunset Cinema on Saturday evening and although the weather was poor, more than 100 people sheltered under their umbrellas from the rain, to enjoy spooky classic Ghostbusters on the 24ft screen. It is the first time a town centre has featured an outdoor projection cinema in this way, but will not be the last as 3 more screenings are planned for this month.

Chief executive Ross Feeney;

"Although the weather was not kind to us on Saturday night, we still had a great turnout.  The screen looked fantastic in the High Street and I hope that over the next three films even more people will come and enjoy Sutton.  The response from those that attended was encouraging with more than half those interviewed expressing an interest to return and bring friends”.

With the many eateries offering deals for these nights it is hopeful that all business in Sutton will benefit. The next showing for all the family is everyone’s favourite movie ‘Grease".

The wireless communication system had been tried and tested prior to the event and Wall to Wall Communications, locally based in Lewis Road, Sutton, supplied top of the range digital Hytera PD705 walkie talkies with noise cancelling headsets. There were no incidents reported during this family event and amusingly the security guys had a lot of attention focused on the radios as they were working so silently.

Hissing noises from radios are a thing of the past and the Hytera Digital range of radios can work in very high ambient noises that are not transmitted. The radios sit silently until called, making them an ideal solution for noisy environments.
