Leading Firm Celebrates Major Milestone with Massive Investment

The UK’s largest hot-dip galvanizing organisation is marking a major milestone at one of its plants with significant investment across the whole facility.
Wedge Group Galvanizing, which has 14 plants across the UK, is celebrating 40 years in business for its Heywood-based plant, Pillar Wedge, and is marking the anniversary by investing over £300,000 across the facility from now until March 2014. The plant, which opened its doors in 1973, was the first of its kind in Europe, leading the way in innovation and modern technology and offering the most up-to-date equipment and processes for the industry. As part of the celebrations, the firm has pledged the £300,000 investment to fund a brand new galvanizing bath, as well as oversee an extensive rebrand in the New Year which will support and enhance a number of exciting opportunities for the business and the wider community.
Andrew Haworth, Regional Director for Pillar Wedge, explained: “We are absolutely delighted to mark Pillar Wedge’s 40th birthday, and to celebrate we have pledged a significant investment to further update our facilities and ensure we continue to lead the way in galvanizing technology. We are proud of our place within the local community, and we believe this extensive investment is the most appropriate way to demonstrate our ongoing support and reinforce our position as a leading service provider.”
The anniversary also marks a major milestone for three of the plant’s employees who all started at the facility when it opened in 1973. Ernie Harrison, David Williams, and Ray Worrall were part of the original team when it launched, and over the years have witnessed extensive change and improvement within the entire sector, which has been particularly prominent in the plant, which offers its clients the most up-to-date service and processes.
