Children are enjoying playground enuipment they chose themselves with the help of Sovereign

11 November 2013

Assisted by Sovereign Play Equipment, pupils at Federick Nattrass Primary School in Stockton-on-Tees are now enjoying their good work, having helped design and select equipment for their new playground.

The existing play area at the school lacked fixed physical and role play equipment and the muddiness of the area meant that it was out of bounds during the winter months. Sovereign worked closely with the staff and pupils, to design a play area that would provide all weather access to equipment and support the children in their physical, mental and social development.

The foundation and reception classes in particular now benefit from a much more exciting outdoor environment that can be used all year round and helps to improve not only their confidence, but also their social and problem solving skills.

The equipment installed includes a ‘Brig Play Ship’ which the children were adamant they wanted, strongly agreeing that some kind of boat or galleon would be the most exciting item that could be added to the area.

Caroline Reed, Head Teacher at Frederick Nattrass Primary School commented: “We were very impressed with the way Sovereign helped us, as well as the way they carried out the installation, which was very quick and mess free. The children are thrilled, especially with the ‘Brig Play Ship’, as it was the only ship that they could find in any of the catalogues they looked at!”
