Protection perfected – new antioxidant-rich sun care from Environ

08 May 2014

Anti-ageing vitamin skincare specialist Environ launches an exciting new style sun protector, RAD Spray SPF25. The innovative, free radical-quenching lotion meets the demands of discerning beauty consumers who want hard-working sun protection creams with multiple benefits.

Launched some 22 years ago, Environ’s original RAD SPF15 suncream remains one of the world’s most effective sunscreen products, giving enhanced protection through its smart combination of absorbent and reflectant sunscreens together with the brand’s signature brigade of antioxidants.

Now, with even better UVA protection and the addition of new protective ingredients, RAD Spray provides a lighter, fluid formulation that spreads more easily over the skin while retaining all the benefits of the original RAD cream.  The new formula meets the latest SPF level and UVA ratio requirements of the anti-cancer associations too.

This broad spectrum sun lotion contains four different sunscreen elements which offer UVA and UVB protection that  is also increased by the inclusion of the various antioxidants and vitamins contained in the formula (as detailed below).
  • Provides a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 25
  • Easily-absorbed milky texture, which leaves a silky after-feel
  • Contains various antioxidants, including vitamins C and E*, rosemary leaf extract and colourless carotenoids (lycopene) derived from tomatoes, which assist in protecting against free radicals and sun damage.
  • Malt Secrets® (barley seed extract) is rich in polyphenols and ferulic acid. This ingredient is proven to work in synergy with vitamins C and E and has excellent anti-ageing and antioxidant properties.
  • Recognised by the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) as a broad spectrum sunscreen providing adequate UVA and UVB protection.
Plastic surgeon Dr Des Fernandes created the original RAD in 1992 – a world first in combining antioxidant vitamin complex in a suncream - to address those rays that escape through the sun protection factors and get into the skin where they damage by creating free radicals.  “We have the complete antioxidant brigade behind the main line protection, acting as the internal defence against the sun.  The antioxidants penetrate the skin and cannot be removed by water.”
