Testing time for Boy Blue at Harlequin HQ

15 May 2014

It was testing time for dance floors when award-winning hip-hop dance company, Boy Blue Entertainment headed for Harlequin Floors’ base at Tunbridge Wells on Saturday.

A team of seven put a series of Harlequin dance floors through their paces with acrobatics, flips, slides and hand dancing all part of a demanding and exciting dance repertoire. Acclaimed for bringing hip-hop from the street and clubs to stage and screen through the creation of first class work, Boy Blue brought their unique expertise to evaluating Harlequin’s dance floor options.

With their dance style performed wearing trainers and embracing hand and body contact with the floor, both the response of the top surface and cushioning of the underlying sprung floor were up for evaluation. Harlequin Liberty sprung floor panels provided the sub floor to a number of vinyl dance surfaces selected from the Harlequin range. Awarding marks from one to three, it was newly developed Harlequin FreeStyle that was voted the ‘three-star’ floor for hip-hop and street dance.

Commenting on their day spent with Harlequin, Kenrick ‘H20’ Sandy said, "It was pleasure for Boy Blue Entertainment to be welcomed into Harlequin HQ, to be able to test several floors from a street dance perspective. For BBE it was to see how best each floor can or cannot work. This for us was just an extension from our original input when Harlequin FreeStyle was created. It was a great, fun day being at Harlequin....next time they will join in!"

Harlequin FreeStyle, available in black or grey, was developed with hip-hop and street in mind, offering less slip resistance than floors developed for other dance forms, where dancers use footwear with less grip or perhaps perform bare-foot. Thanks to these characteristics, FreeStyle is similarly well suited to Jazz, Contemporary, Modern. Aerobics and Zumba.

Boy Blue Entertainment Tour Dates 2014 are online.
