Natratex Provide Hardwearing Surface for Bristol College

Bituchem Asphalt Ltd’s Natratex has been specified to provide an attractive and cost effective surface solution for the pathways and amphitheatre at Bristol Metropolitan College.
Built as part of the government-funded building schools for the future programme in Bristol, Thornbury Surfacing laid one hundred tonnes of buff Natratex to the grounds which are used by both students at the college and pupils with special educational needs from Briarwood School.
Natratex was used to distinguish pedestrian areas from areas of heavy traffic usage, specifically as surfacing for the outdoor play area and seating area at the foot of a series of grass terraces that form the amphitheatre used as a congregation space for students. Natratex was also used to provide a durable and long lasting surface for the college car park.
On specifying Natratex, Iain Bushell, construction supervisor for Skanska Bristol Schools said, “The Natratex product met our specification as a high quality yet cost effective surface which also provides disabled access to the grounds. The new surface has been well received by both staff and children.”
Natratex is a hot applied process that uses a multipurpose clear resin binder to form a fully bonded aggregate surface that is free from the problems of loose chippings and contains UVA resistant properties that create a stable, durable and hardwearing surface. As Natratex uses a specially formulated clear binder to bond aggregates in traditional macadam gradings, the final result is the soft appearance of natural stone.
Natratex can be applied in nearly all weather conditions and offers a quick installation time offering a solution to contractor deadlines. Flexible in terms of usage, Natratex is suitable for pedestrian, cycle and light traffic applications.
