Operable walls change room layouts at flick of a switch

30 January 2009

Building Additions has just introduced a semi-automatic Electroglide model to its operable wall range for quick, effortless operation at the flick of a switch.

Unlike others on the market it uses special motors developed in conjunction with BMW, to automatically locate the next panel along so that perfect alignment and a perfect seal is ensured every time.

Tony Regan, commercial director of Building Additions, explained, “We are very excited about the product.  The Electroglide partition has been developed and tested to the most rigorous of standards and we firmly believe it is the best electrical system on the market.  There is a need in large auditoriums or conference centres for this type of partition, not only because of the amount of time saved in the operation of the panels but also because a perfect seal is created every time so that the acoustic properties are not compromised.”

The Electroglide is connected to mains electricity and is simple to operate with a key switch.  As the panels connect, the internal microprocessor controlled motors extend a seal on each panel in less than 4 seconds, maintaining a uniform seal pressure of 2000 N per linear metre to create a perfect acoustic seal. In the event of power failure, the system will still operate reliably as it has an internal battery back-up.

The Electroglide has a number of panel options from standard and telescopic panels through to window panels, single or double door panels and corner panels.
