IAC gives five-star Landmark Hotels' Spa the five-star acoustic door treatment

29 June 2009

IAC, Europe’s leading acoustic door manufacturer, has fitted an unusual, bespoke acoustic door as part of the extension of the Health Club and Spa at Londons' five-star Landmark Hotel.

One of Londons' most luxurious hotels, and a listed building, the Landmark is situated on the edge of Regents' Park and with what is among the most expensive square footage in the UK, every foot of useable space in the building counts. Although the Spa is located in the basement of the hotel and next to a busy road, guests using the facilities would never know, thanks to a bespoke IAC acoustic door fitted to their four-roomed Spa Therapy Suite.

The specially-designed ‘escape’ door opens to a height of 2.1m. The acoustic window above this, with specialist glass, allows the entry of natural light and gives a maximum height of 3 m. The design of the door was especially challenging as the contractors Cornhill Interiors stipulated that it had to match that of the very old door it was replacing, in line with the Landmarks' listed building status.

IAC has also fitted rooftop noise control solutions to air conditioning plant rooms at the hotel as part of what has been a multimillion pound refurbishment programme.
