ESTECH marks twentieth year with new Acoustic Testing Site

03 November 2009

Japanese engineering consultant, ESTECH Corporation, celebrates twenty years in business by expanding its premises with a brand new testing facility site.

Situated less than 40 km from the centre of Tokyo, the two storey building has a hemi-anechoic chamber, an excitation test room and an associated test preparation room. The excitation test room, which can be flexibly partitioned, contains two structural beds isolated from external vibration. And two cranes capable of lifting up to 2.8 tonnes, for moving heavy structures such as engines, tractor cabins and bulky components.

The hemi-anechoic chamber (with less than 7 dBA background noise) is a box-in-box construction with ceiling air conditioning, temperature control and exhaust extraction so vehicles can be run inside. The chamber doors are 3.5m high to allow access for king-sized products and components. Three of the measurement areas are also totally secured, so customers can have products tested in complete confidentiality.

President of ESTECH, Mr. Toshiro Abe, said;

“ESTECH’s capabilities are a key component of its business model. The volume of projects is increasing so we needed more storage, preparation and testing space. Security requirements are also much tighter than in past years. Therefore, we decided to expand. It’s a big commitment but I also have a strong belief in our future – a view that is held by my colleagues and parent company.”

Established as a joint venture of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. and the former SDRC (Structural Dynamics Research Corporation), ESTECH (Engineering Solutions & Technologies) first opened its doors in September 1989. It commenced its engineering consulting services based on the product development technology of Nissan and the software and analysis expertise of the former SDRC, a pioneer in MCAE (Mechanical Computer Aided Engineering).

Its clients include all the major Japanese manufacturers of cars, trucks, vans, motorcycles and construction machinery. ESTECH’s site is mainly equipped with Brüel & Kjær products including data analysis system PULSE, Test for I-deas software and a range of transducers. ESTECH is currently working on a plan to migrate from Test for I-deas to PULSE LabShop and Reflex.

Toshiro added;

“Brüel & Kjær is synonymous with high quality, reliability, has a good reputation and offers outstanding support. We regard Brüel & Kjær as a partner and not a supplier.”
