Tarkett Salsa on the dance floor at the Riverside Lodge

16 November 2009

Tarkett engineered wood flooring has been specified as part of a recent refurbishment at the new Riverside Lodge in Morpeth.

Formerly a social club, the interior was totally destroyed by devastating flooding in the town during September 2008.  Reconstruction of the property has taken a year to complete, but the club has now been transformed into a public house and function suite, re-opening as the Riverside Lodge in August 2009.

Gillian Hopkinson of Blake Hopkinson Architecture chose Tarkett for part of the project;

“We needed a hardwearing, pre-finished product for the high traffic areas such as the games room, entrance hall and the dance floor. CMS Flooring recommended the Tarkett engineered wood range to us as it met all our requirements for this project and they did a great job on the installation.”

Around 80m2 of Tarketts' Salsa Ash Cognac flooring was used to complement the interior design and to help create the right ambience for this up and coming wedding and conference venue, which can cater for up to 200 guests.

Tarketts' Salsa range is 14mm thick and features a 3.6mm wear layer of genuine species wood. This means the floor can be re-sanded up to 4 or 5 times giving greater longevity and lifetime value. Its three-layer construction provides excellent dimensional stability, eliminating 70% of the woods' natural movement. The surface is protected by Tarketts' Proteco Natura lacquer, the most wear-resistant lacquer on the market, providing superb protection against wear and micro scratches.

Designed for floating floor installation, Salsa is available with the choice of an Ultraloc or T-lock mechanical glue-free locking system, which 'bonds' the boards closely and evenly together without any edges.

Available in a range of different wood species, the Salsa range offers the widest choice of wood finishes.  Selecting a grain with minimal sapwood and knots gives a calm appearance, whereas a more lively finish can be achieved with a rustical or robust grading, with lots of knots, colour variation and sapwood.

Other finish options also include aged, brushed, stained and heat-treated woods. With so many options to choose from, it is not surprising that the Salsa Range is Tarketts' most popular engineered wood flooring solution.
