FEM introduce new, energy-saving Vollrath Mirage induction hob.

As energy costs continue to spiral, induction cooking is really taking off with Induction Hobs being an extremely energy efficient and fast way of ‘stove-top’ cooking. Foodservice Equipment Marketing, (FEM), has introduced the new Vollrath Mirage induction hob as a cost-effective option for light commercial use. It is ideal for hotels, restaurants, caterers, delis and take-aways – in fact anywhere that wants to cook fast without paying high fuel bills.

The free-standing Mirage induction hob measures only 35.6cm x 38.7cm x 7.6cm and is suitable for small kitchens where countertop space is at a premium and food production needs to be speedy. It has an output of between 1,440 to 1,800 watts - powerful enough to rapidly reach a top temperature of 289°c.

With a bright and easy-to-read digital readout, the Mirage hob has a temperature memory function that automatically powers up to the last used temperature setting when the hob is turned on. Simple dial controls adjust the temperature and high-speed power settings, while a 1-180 minute timer further simplifies kitchen procedures.

Vollrath has included several features to protect and prolong the life of the hob including overheat protection, empty pan and auto pan detection, while small article detection prevents the hob heating watches or jewellery accidentally dropped or left on the surface. For additional safety a ‘hot’ warning display protects kitchen personnel from accidently touching the hob surface while it is still hot. If it is not used for a period of time, the hob automatically turns itself off - a further energy saving feature.
