Tarkett provides solution for Coventrys' Capitol

12 February 2010

The Capitol Tiles Group in Coventry recently approached Tarkett regarding their trade counter refurbishment.

The solution Tarkett provided was their new Safetred Spectrum safety tiles in a chequerboard design which proved quick and easy to install, in spite of the cold weather, remaining flexible and easy to work with.

Capitol Tiles Group Director Richard Davis;

“The trade counter at our Capitol Flooring division needed a heavy-duty safety floor to cope with the volume and variety of foot traffic, from high heels to builders’ boots, and Tarketts' new Safety Tile was the ideal solution.  The winter conditions have proved a good test and we’re absolutely delighted with it. It’s had a lot of praise from our customers too.”

One local headmistress was very impressed with the tile format as she found that traditional safety flooring, sold on rolls, restricted her opportunities for creating patterns and borders on a limited budget. Tarketts' safety tile overcomes this issue while also reducing installation waste, helping schools achieve environmental targets.

Tarketts' Safetred Spectrum safety tiles are 500x500mm each and come packaged in boxes of 16, giving up to 4m2 of coverage.  They are lightweight, less bulky to work with and easier to store and carry.  Individual tiles are more stable and easy to cut to the desired shape, with no welding required, saving time and reducing waste.

As with all of Tarketts' Safetred ranges, the new tiles feature the Tarkett Safety Clean PUR surface protection, providing improved stain resistance and reduced cleaning costs.  With an R10 slip resistance rating, tiles are manufactured to EN13845 ensuring slip performance is sustained throughout the product’s life.

The new tiles feature a backing made from recycled flooring.  This not only increases dimensional stability, but also reduces the product’s environmental impact by minimising the use of natural raw materials and recycling old flooring that may otherwise have gone to landfill.

Safetred Spectrum tiles are available in 9 colour options, each designed to complement any interior environment.  The tile format offers architects and specifiers greater freedom to create detailed designs, even in small areas, as different colours can be mixed and matched.
