Bellingham + Stanley launch RFM990-AUS32 to meet stringent requirements of ISO22241 – Diesel Exhaust Fluids

08 April 2010

In an effort to reduce environmental pollution, the European Union has established certain rules about emissions from heavy and light goods vehicles.

One method adopted by vehicle manufacturers to allow compliance is SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction), which chemically reduces NOx-emissions by combining an aqueous urea solution (AUS) such as Adblue® with the exhaust flow.

Whilst hand held refractometers and hydrometers are commonly used to assess Adblue® concentrations at point of use, manufacturers of the chemical are required to adhere to a much higher level of control as laid out in ISO 22241-2.

Leading instrument manufacturer Bellingham + Stanley Ltd. has launched a new refractometer specifically designed to meet the requirement of the ISO standard by paying particular attention to the on-board Peltier temperature control.

Being part of the RFM900 series of refractometers, users of the RFM990-AUS32 will not only be assured of the highest measurement performance but will also benefit from a unique AUS32 Method that allows input of two extraneous measurements cited in the ISO norm as well as other unique features such as RFID user identity/clearance, significant on-board data storage, calibration audit trails and a methods system that makes changing instrument parameters a simple two-button process.

Two new Certified Reference Materials have also been introduced allowing high accuracy verification to be performed.
