Eriez introduce new eccentric Eddy Current Separator

15 February 2011

Eriez Magnetics Europe have recently launched their new RevX-E eccentric Eddy Current Separator, their first Eddy Current Separator to have an eccentric magnetic rotor, allowing single point separation, providing unique separation solutions for the dynamically changing recycling industry compared to the standard design.

Like all Eriez Eddy Current Separators, the new RevX-E has a strong magnetic rotor that revolves at high speeds inside a non-magnetic shell. A conveyor belt transports material into the revolving field, where eddy currents are generated in the non-ferrous metals causing the particles to repel away from the rotating magnetic field. The eccentric rotor produces a powerful more focused field than the concentric and is designed to maximise separation of non ferrous metals.

The RevX-E is ideally suited for purifying cullet and plastics, and recovering valuable metal from secondary metals and incineration ash, especially the separation of small particles. It is simple to operate with a robust design and is easy to install into new or existing recycling plants.

When there is a requirement to separate non ferrous metals, there usually is a reciprocal need for ferrous metal separation. Ferrous metals are usually removed using either a Permanent Magnetic Drum and/or a Permanent Suspended Overband Magnet prior to the Eddy Current Separator. Eriez has designed a range of modular systems including any Eriez Eddy Current Separator where customers can purchase one complete unit to separate ferrous and non ferrous metals.

Since the RevX-E was launched Eriez have received a large amount of enquiries leading to many sales of the new machine. The enquiries have not only been for the new separator but for all of the Eriez equipment used in the recycling industry. This large influx of enquiries has led Eriez to expanding their Recycling division to meet customer demands. Along with this the dedicated recycling specialists are working to improve and find new technologies which will benefit the recycling industry. New products from Eriez will be launched in the upcoming months.

Eriez Magnetics Europes' Recycling Sales Executive, Carlton Hicks;

“Now that Eriez can offer both concentric and eccentric Eddy Current Separators, it puts us in a better position to meet specific customer needs. The addition of the RevX-E has allowed us to offer separation solutions to a wider variety of applications than ever before. We [Eriez] also have exciting new products in the pipeline which will further increase the separation capabilities that can be offered to customers.”

The type of Eddy Current Separator required for an application is entirely dependent upon the separation objective and usually selected after review of the recycling project by a team of specialist Recycling Sales Engineers. This often involves testing at the fully equipped Eriez Laboratory in the European headquarters in Caerphilly, South Wales.
