Encasement casings & wall cladding at prestige london development.

03 March 2011

Decorative stainless steel column casings and brushed aluminium internal wall cladding from Encasement have been installed as part of the stylish main reception and lobby area at the new Carmine office building in London’s Merchant Square development at Paddington basin.

The 15 storey landmark building designed by Mossessian & Partners, provides more than 30,000m2 of high quality office space in London’s West End and is one of six new buildings in the Merchant Square development, which includes residential, retail, leisure and commercial use spread over and area well in excess of 160,000m2.

Within the Carmine building’s spacious lobby, ‘Forma’ brushed stainless steel column casings from Encasement not only conceal structural columns but also integrate with the clean lines of the modern interior, which features two circular reception desks with contrasting wood finishes.

Alongside the feature column casings, Encasement also supplied and installed decorative brushed aluminium cladding, which was used to create a five-metre high feature wall in the main reception lift area as well as cladding the wall surrounding a separate ground floor lift lobby in the building’s atrium.

Encasement’s managing director, Martin Taylor, explained: “The Carmine building’s striking angular design has already made it a modern icon and I’m delighted that we have been involved in this project, where the interior is just as dramatic as the building’s envelope.”
