Management moves at Norbar

01 November 2011

Norbar Torque Tools has announced that Catherine Rohll has been appointed to the Board as Commercial Director, strengthening the family management team.

Catherine will hold the position jointly with her cousin Craig Brodey until he moves to Norbar’s Australian head office in Adelaide to work with the existing operation, supporting business growth for the company in the South East Asia region. He will take up his new appointment as Commercial Director for Australia in January 2012.

Norbar was founded in the 1940s by Bill Brodey and is recognised as the world’s leading specialist in the design, development and production of torque tightening and measuring equipment. With 240 employees at its Banbury head office and factory, the company has a worldwide presence with group offices in Australia, China, India, New Zealand, Singapore and the USA.

Catherine Rohll was awarded a biological science PhD from Cambridge, but subsequently became an experienced lawyer specialising in contract and intellectual property law. Part of her role as Norbar’s UK Commercial Director involves managing potential risks and contractual obligations for the company as well as looking after its intellectual property rights including patents, designs and trademarks. This is particularly important as Norbar is continually expanding into new overseas markets. She also has responsibility for the company’s finance and accounting functions and is closely involved with Norbar’s plans to expand its Banbury manufacturing base in the near future.

Craig Brodey has worked in the Norbar management team for 20 years and before that was with Ford of Europe. Norbar Australia is a dynamic sales operation and his presence as a holding company director will provide invaluable support as well as providing him with the opportunity to present a firsthand view to the Main Board of the South East Asian Market.

The Australian office has responsibility for an area with exceptional potential for Norbar’s precision engineering solutions, with sectors including oil & gas, refining, mining and a rapidly growing manufacturing base, prime markets being Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand. Craig Brodey’s role as Commercial Director Australia also includes handling the financial side of the business for the Australian office.

Norbar has consistently enjoyed a high degree of success in world markets and exports 75% of its production. It has exceptional calibration facilities at its laboratories worldwide and the company was awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise: International Trade in 2009.
