Bowers Indicates a World First

08 March 2012

Encouraged by the success of the popular Sylvac 213 Series Digital Indicators, Bowers Metrology has launched the S_Dial WORK; fully configurable versions of the tough yet accurate digital indicator.

Claimed by Bowers to be ‘the first fully configurable dial gauge in the world’, easy to use, with configurable menus that allow the functions of Sylvac S_Dial WORK indicators to be precisely defined by the user.

A comprehensive list of capabilities, including Min/Max/Delta, Tolerance, Factor, Preset, Auto Off can be made ‘live’, or ‘locked-out’ depending on the job in hand. When reissued for a subsequent gauging task, the advanced instruments can be rapidly reconfigured for completely different measuring routines. For multiple use situations such as fixture work, the SYLVAC data and process control software SYLCONNECT allows the connection of up to 16 instruments by USB cables. If required, the ingenious Sylvac gauges are able to transmit their readings via RS232, USB, Digimatic or by the use of a wireless transmitter.

Available with measuring capacities of 12.5mm and 25mm and a display switchable resolution from 0.01mm to 0.001mm, the tough but accurate S_Dial WORK indicators have an impressive repeatability specification of 0.002mm.   Designed to operate within harsh measuring environments, such as within close proximity to machine tools, the Sylvac indicator range boasts an IP67 rating, according to IEC 60529 (Protected Versions), rendering them resistant to the ingress of water and coolant, even when fitted with data connection cables.

The new Sylvac indicators are manufactured from materials that are able to withstand extended shop floor use and can be fitted with a wide range of contact points. For ease of use all S_Dial WORK indicators have an optional, ergonomic lifting device, whilst extended battery life is ensured through the use of CR2302 Lithium batteries.

With a large, highly visible LCD digital readout and coloured LED tolerance lights incorporated within the display, the indicator is operated using a simple 3-button system giving the S_Dial WORK user easy access to a wide range of useful features.
