About us

In 1969 Les West a local business man suffered a break-in at his Reading home losing family possessions and suffering all of the trauma associated with a burglary.
At this time Westronics were the areas largest TV aerial company installing the latest equipment to allow TV viewers to receive the new BBC2 channel and colour TV service. It was therefore no surprise that after Mr West had the security industries finest come to advise him on securing his home he reached the conclusion that Westronics could do it better. Intruder detection was in its infancy in the UK and with an existing team of engineers and an ex RADAR technician already on board Westronics Alarms was born.
Time passed and the security industry matured and required regulations to ensure that only people of good character using tried and tested equipment and installation methods would be qualified to install security systems. The industry responded with the formation of the National Supervisory Council for Intruder Alarms (NSCIA now the NSI) an independent body who audited security companies and their installations, service, staff and even their financial status.
By this time Westronics were an established security company who embraced the new regulations fully and in 1972 were awarded the very first NSCIA certificate ever issued in the UK, a true indictment of Westronics professionalism.
Westronics thrived during the 1970’s, and in 1978 after working in the company as an engineer, surveyor and manager throughout the 70’s Alan West took over the reins from his father as Managing Director, it was during this period that Westronics truly grew into the company we know today.
In 1978 a young electrical engineer joined the company and was schooled in the West family’s tradition of customer service, system quality and loyalty to both clients and company. Graham Miller joined Westronics with aspirations of being the best engineer he could be but with Alan West’s support and confidence he was able to progress through the company tackling engineering, sales and managerial roles undergoing a thorough apprenticeship for over 20 years culminating in Graham becoming Managing Director in 1999.
During this period a strong bond was formed between Alan and Graham which was to see the company go from strength to strength installing systems for home owners, schools, universities, large corporations and even the MoD. Westronics experience grew with each project allowing them to provide Intruder and Fire alarms, CCTV and Access Control systems to a diverse cross section of clients throughout the Thames Valley and the South of England.
In 2007 after over 28 years at the helm Alan West retired and Westronics was purchased by Graham Miller who today continues to steer Westronics through the varied directions the industry takes us. Westronics has during this period completed numerous major projects including providing security systems to some of the largest solar parks in the UK. We provide fire systems, CCTV and security systems to schools, colleges, universities and large corporations across the South of England but we never forget our roots maintaining a strong presence providing the best in domestic security systems to homes across the Thames Valley. Today Westronics is still as much a family business as it was in the beginning with the next generation already involved in the company. Graham’s sons are already part of the team as are the sons of our General Manager and Installations Manager ensuring that the Westronics legacy will go on for many years to come. Westronics - A family company with corporate stability, strength and capability since 1969.
