Planning events in the current climate

19 July 2021

With the easing of Government social distancing restrictions, the planning of live in-person events has finally become a reality.

The pandemic switch to online virtual events provided an alternative but has not diminished the appetite for personal interaction and networking that only a live event can bring.

But how do you offset the cost of reduced attendees with extra staff and other Covid related expenses, such as sanitation or badge scanners?
  • Hire – To keep your budget lower you can hire shell scheme stands, modular kit, stand display items and furniture with the option to cancel if your event does not go ahead.
  • Get Flexible – If you are buying a stand, consider a modular option. The adaptable frames can be reused for all your events and scaled to create new shapes and designs without any further investment.
  • Go Hybrid – If you have already invested in the technology, keeping a virtual option for a live event will help gain a larger audience reach and boost ticket sales.
  • Get Sponsored – Hand sanitizer stations, masks and floor stickers can all be sponsored by partners and exhibitors and their logos or branding added.
  • VIP – Offering higher priced tickets that offer an exclusive package can increase your profits.
  • Downsize - Smaller scale events may work for a reduction in numbers, we have already seen a rise in local events through our poster board hire this month.
  • Retrain – Stand staff will need to learn how to approach and engage live event attendees who may not be as comfortable venturing on to a crowded stand or shaking an outstretched hand as they once were.
  • Negotiate – With an annual package the more events you run the less you spend, can include stand design, build at venues and storage.
