Royal Mail's latest service is Click & Drop ™, which allows businesses to print their own postage and address labels for parcels. In this post we'll explain which Label Planet products are compatible with these options so you can get printing and posting!Labelling Parcels With Click And Drop ™
Royal Mail's Click and Drop ™ service asks you to choose one of three label templates:
A4 Integrated label & despatch note template
A4 Separate label & despatch note template (with 1,2, or 4 labels per page)
6 x 4 Separate label & despatch note template
The first option creates a single A4 document containing both a postage/address label and a despatch note.
The second and third options include separate documents for your address labels and your despatch notes. In the A4 Separate option, your shipping labels will print out on one A4 sheet, while your despatch note prints out on a separate A4 sheet. In the 6 x 4 Separate option, your address labels will print out on 6 x 4 thermal labels, while your despatch note prints out on an A4 sheet.
At Label Planet, we only supply labels on A4 sheets. This means we are unable to provide compatible labels for the 6 x 4 label option. To use this template, you would need both a standard desktop printer (to print the A4 despatch notes, if you need them) and a thermal/direct thermal printer (which can print labels on rolls).
But, what if you want to use the A4 Integrated or A4 Separate label & despatch note templates? We've got suitable products to create both of these documents via the Click and Drop ™ service.
Postage/Address Labels For Click & Drop ™
Here are the self adhesive labels we recommend for the Royal Mail's Click and Drop ™ Service.
A4 Integrated label & despatch note template.
This template was designed for Integrated Labels. These products feature one (or more) self adhesive labels integrated into (made part of) an A4 sheet of paper. We do not supply Integrated Labels; however, we do have suitable alternatives that work just as well:
LP1/210H
LP1/210V
LP2/210
The first three are A4 size labels; each A4 sheet contains 1 sticky label measuring 210mm x 297mm. The only difference between these products is the backing sheet. The LP1/210H backing sheet is divided in two to create a narrow strip along the top edge of the sheet. The LP1/210V backing sheet is divided in two vertically down the centre of the sheet. LP1/210J has "Jet-Crak" backing, where the backing sheet is divided into multiple wavy strips.
These backing sheets make it easier to remove your A4 size labels from the backing sheet. The product you pick simply depends on which backing you find easier to remove.
When using these products to print Click and Drop ™ labels, print the provided template onto the A4 sheet. You can then cut the sheet in two to separate your postage label from your despatch note.
The fourth option - LP2/210 - features two labels each measuring 210 x 148.5mm (half of an A4 sheet). You print the provided template onto the sheet. The top label contains your despatch note, while the bottom label (containing your printed postage label) can be peeled off and applied onto your parcel.
A4 Separate label & despatch note template
In this template, postage labels print onto a separate sheet to your despatch note (if you choose to print one). This means you need A4 sheets of self adhesive labels (for your postage labels) and A4 sheets of paper (for your despatch notes).
For the A4 sheets of self adhesive labels, we recommend our LP4/105 label size.
This is because this label template offers you the choice of printing 1, 2, or 4 postage labels. Our LP4/105 product features four labels per sheet, each measuring 105mm x 148.5mm.
Print the label part of this template onto your label sheets. Then you can peel off the address labels / shipping labels and stick them onto your parcels.
Basic Barcodes Labels
The Click and Drop ™ system also includes Basic Barcodes Labels; this tool allows you to generate and print postage labels.
This option works with two label formats:
- Label Rolls: 100mm x 50mm labels for thermal printers (suitable for parcel and large letters).
- A4 Labels: 99.1mm x 38.1mm labels for desktop printers (suitable for all letter formats).

You can find all of these label sizes on our Click & Drop Labels page. All of these products are high quality matt white paper labels with a standard permanent adhesive. You can print them with a laser printer or an inkjet printer. These sizes are available in packs of 25 sheets (available for same day despatch from stock) or boxes of 500 sheets.
