23 April 2010

Safety Media has launched a Food Allergies E-Learning course as part of their extensive training library.

Safety Media are delighted to announce a new E-Learning course has been added to its extensive training library. The Food Allergies Interactive Flash course has been developed for use within all food serving and preparation establishments including restaurants and school and work canteens.

The course has been produced to make staff more aware of food allergies and the effects they can have on the individual with the allergy. Food allergies affect 1.5 million people in the UK; of this 1-2% are adults and 5 – 8% are children, with this in mind it is vital that staff understand the dangers of food allergies. During the 30 minute E-Learning course, the trainee will learn about the precautions needed when working in a food service environment.

The course looks at the types of allergens, what to find out from the customer and food preparation precautions. Safety Media Managing Director Julian Roberts said: “With food allergies affecting so many people in the UK alone, it’s important food service staff fully understand the importance of finding out customers allergies before serving food.

This course is an engaging, entertaining and interactive look at the subject and is a must have course for anyone working with food.” Safety Media’s E-Learning system is used by hundreds of companies nationally who train their employees using the library of 53 Interactive Flash and Video Courses.
