Solutions was established in 1994 by Paul Meek (Chartered F.C.I.P.D.) who started his career in the NHS where he was a paramedic tutor with a national role of “training trainers”. Paul has been a contributor to national policy in respect of best practice for moving and handling. With huge experience in training within a wide range of settings he has acted as an adviser to, health, and social care sectors since 1994. His qualifications include the “Professional Certificate in advanced theory and practice of manual handling” as well as many others. Paul’s experience guarantees success and a learning experience that will be both highly enjoyable and powerful.
In late 2020 during COVID we asked Solutions to assist us by providing training to a small group of our staff who required hoist training, most of which had not participated in this type of training before. We completed all the theory on how to move and handle pupils in a manner that is safe and dignified by completing the sector specific online People Moving People 21 course which was hugely valuable and reduced the need for classroom training. We found that online training reduced our overall training costs and the need for contact training.
On completion of the course, the staff attended a short practical workshop to learn the practical skills of hoisting. On completion of the course, all that attended the training felt confident and competent on how to apply the skills learnt in a wide range of circumstances within their roles. We found this blended method of training greatly beneficial and cost effective.
