Space Air for Sea Space

Space Airconditioning plc, the Guildford based Daikin distributor recently concluded the supply of comprehensive VRV air conditioning equipment for The Lacuna Place office and retail development in Hastings’ Priory Quarter business district.

The high efficiency Daikin VRV 3 pipe heat recovery equipment consisting of 15 systems is made up by a modular arrangement of 22 outdoor condensing units serving a total of 150 slim ducted fan coil units, all controlled by Daikin’s I-Touch control system. The equipment was installed over 2 phases by Space Air/Daikin approved installers DMA Ltd of Gillingham in Kent.

Described as the largest high quality new offices in the town centre for over 25 years, Lacuna Place stands in Havelock Road and comprises 31,398 sq. ft. (2,917 m2) of contemporary offices arranged over four floors, plus a ground floor reception area. The scheme also incorporates two retail units totaling 6,017 sq ft on the ground floor, One of which has been designed for general retail use, with the second design as a café/restaurant with plans for outdoor seating.

Lacuna Place has been created as part of a ten-year investment programme for the area by Coastal Land (Sussex) LLP, a joint venture between economic development company Sea Space and property specialist The Land Group. The building was designed by architects Proctor and Matthews to fit with the historic streetscape.

Keith Sadler, Deputy Director at Sea Space, remarked: “Hastings town centre is changing dramatically and the completion of Lacuna Place is a watershed. It gives the town much-needed large, high quality business premises. Priory Quarter is rapidly emerging as one of the most dynamic commercial districts along the south coast.”
