Do you need to pay the agents percentage when you need the services of a professional engineer?

There was a time when recruitment agencies were worth the cost. Years ago the right professional was hard to find but like all things the situation has changed and the professional engineers are perfectly able to operate without an intermediary and you don’t need to pay the sometimes exorbitant fees of a practically useless silent partner.
Here at Deltabarn ltd I have known agents to charge between 12.5% and 40% to clients for supplying Deltabarn ltd services. Deltabarn ltd recently helped Veolia CHP with a very particular problem. When the problem was sorted Veolia CHP was very pleased and would have liked Deltabarn ltd to do more but the agents fee of £500 per day for my services made this impossible.
This was a price I would never charge.
All it takes to reduce the cost of professional help is to drop the intermediary.
This is much easier than many managers realise.
All the issues of employment status are used by agencies to paint a black picture but all it takes is a mutually agreed statement of work.
