AP Technologies Announces UK Distribution of LumeDEL's NewDEL™ Fibre-Coupled LED Instruments

14 February 2024

Responding to the growing demand for high-performance LED light sources in life sciences, medical, scientific, and industrial applications, AP Technologies is proud to announce their partnership with LumeDEL as the UK distributor of their innovative NewDEL™ fibre-coupled LED instruments.

Fibre-coupled LED technology has developed in recent years to offer a compelling alternative to traditional light sources. LED light source instruments have significantly impacted fields like microfabrication, spectroscopy, molecular biology, crystallography, materials science, and structural biology. Additionally, they have facilitated advancements in drug discovery and development, medical diagnostics and imaging techniques.

Recognising the unmet needs of researchers struggling to find suitable LED light source devices, LumeDEL was founded to address this gap. Their NewDEL™ line of fibre-coupled LEDs stands out for its exceptional combination of:

  • Energy efficiency: Reduced operating costs and environmental impact.
  • Longevity: Reliable performance over extended lifespans.
  • Integrated functionality and control: Simplified operation and streamlined workflows.
  • High colour rendering index (CRI) (for broadband models)
  • Versatility: Suitable for a diverse range of applications.

The NewDEL™ instruments come equipped with an integrated driver and microcontroller circuitry, enabling immediate out-of-the-box use. Users benefit from comprehensive control over a wide range of parameters, including delays, triggers, pulse durations, PWM frequency, and duty cycle. For advanced users, distinctive serial commands unlock customisation capabilities.

The NewDEL™ family offers a comprehensive selection of 20 standard models, encompassing narrowband sources spanning the ultraviolet (UVC, 275nm) to the near-infrared (940nm) range, alongside cool- and warm-white and broadband sources (330-1100nm) for broader spectral requirements. Custom wavelengths are also available upon request to accommodate specific applications.

Key Features:
  • High power: Exceptional brightness and precision across the 275-1100nm range.
  • Intuitive user experience: A user-friendly, Windows-based GUI simplifies programmability, while an integrated memory chip and driver/controller ensure ease of operation, allowing researchers to focus on core tasks.
  • Pulse width modulation (PWM) dimming: Enables precise brightness control and seamless integration with GUI-based control.
  • Remote control: Facilitates integration into various programmable systems through serial commands.
  • Reliable and stable output power: Guarantees the consistency demanded by laboratory-based researchers.
  • Broad Spectral Range: Select from a comprehensive array of single-chip narrowband sources and multi-chip broadband sources to match specific requirements.
  • Customisable Solutions: Unique needs can be accommodated with additional wavelengths available upon request.
"The NewDEL™ line of LED programmable light source instruments offers an unrivalled combination of integrated control, energy efficiency, and longevity," remarked Martin Sharratt, Managing Director of AP Technologies. "These instruments address the demanding light source requirements of diverse applications, providing consistent and stable illumination with precise wavelengths”.
