Eriez Magnetics trap paper plant metal contamination

An Eriez Model ‘T’ Magnetic Trap has been installed at Ahlstrom Corporation, a global leader in the development, manufacturing and marketing of high performance fibre based materials.
At the Ahlstrom plant metal caught in the refiners during the manufacturing of speciality paper was causing problems. The metal contamination resulted in equipment downtime being increased and the final product being damaged.The Eriez Model ‘T’ Magnetic Trap is capable of removing ferrous contamination in 150mm trough 450mm pipelines. They feature a rugged, welded pipe and reinforced plate construction which can withstand operational pressures of up to 5.3 bar (75 p.s.i). These high capacity units reduce damage and maintenance to filters, pumps and other process machinery handling liquid materials such as those at Ahlstrom.
Since installing Eriez T Traps, Ahlstrom reports that there has been a significant amount of metallic product being trapped before going to the refiners. Damage to equipment has been significantly reduced and has helped to ensure product quality.
