Two Hörmann timber Nordic Pine sectional doors were specified for the recently completed Flamingo House at Chester Zoo

Two Hörmann timber Nordic Pine sectional doors were specified for the recently completed Flamingo House at Chester Zoo. The timber doors effectively seal off the flamingo shelter where the birds are kept during spells of adverse weather conditions.

The doors were supplied and installed by Garage Doors Lancs, one of the longest standing Hörmann customers in the UK. Specialist timber building manufacturer, Farmplus, was responsible for the construction of the Flamingo House. Contract Manager, Simon Crompton, selected the Hörmann timber doors because of their quality and sustainability credentials.

“The doors are well engineered and perfectly compliment the rest of the structure. Chester Zoo operates an environmentally friendly facility and the Hörmann doors come with an excellent reputation for eco-friendly manufacturing.”

Hörmann timber doors are extremely durable and that is one of the main reasons why it was specified for this development. All Hörmann timber doors are pre-treated and impregnated in a double immersion bath process at the factory. This helps to further increase levels of protection against the elements and insect or fungal attack.

Because of the increased material weight Hörmann supply their timber sectional doors with torsion spring technology to ensure smooth operation and longevity of operating parts, while the doors themselves come with a ten-year guarantee.
